Lorayna was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer back in August. After the initial diagnosis by Dr. Holman, she headed to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, which started with a few trips back and forth along with more scans. After those trips back and forth and a plan was made, the journey continued with radiation, followed by an extensive surgery. There were many trips back and forth to Rochester and so it is nice she can now do her chemo in Pierre! Right now she is doing chemo and hopes to be done with it in February! After chemo is done, it is back to Mayo for more scans and another surgery. We are praying shortly after the surgery, she will be able to return to school part time and back to full time starting in April! Missing this entire school year with her students has been the hardest on her. It has been a long road so far, along with many ups and downs, but she will get through it because she is strong, and has so much love and support from family, friends, and the community!
